Cool-Down & Workout Safety

Keep Your Workout Safe & Effective

Focus on quality movement throughout your workout:

  1. Warm up first. Begin with the Warm-Up & Stretch video before your training session.
  2. Choose appropriate resistance. Never sacrifice proper form for a heavier band.
  3. Move with control. Avoid jerking, bouncing, or rushing through repetitions.
  4. Focus on the working muscles. Contract the muscle prior to starting each repetition.
  5. Keep breathing. Exhale during the effort (or the positive phase) and inhale as you return. Avoid holding your breath.
  6. Maintain good posture. During standing exercises, keep your knees soft rather than locked.
  7. Don’t rest between repetitions. Keep moving to maximize results. Rest only if needed.
  8. Take the proper rest between sets.

Warm Up, Stretch & Cool Down

Warm-Up:

Ease into your session with gentle movement, gradually increasing your pace. Follow my warm-up video to prepare for your Total Body Bar workout.

Stretch:

Stretch for a few minutes before you begin your exercise routine to prepare your body for a successful workout. Muscular flexibility is an essential part of overall health and quality of life. Many joint, muscle, and skeletal problems are the result of poor flexibility. Flexibility is important for good posture, and also contributes greatly to preventing injuries. The efficiency, performance, and energy of a muscle is directly related to its flexibility.

You can use the time during stretching to meditate on having an enjoyable and effective workout. You can also visualize using proper form and technique, as you focus on each movement throughout your training session.

Cool-Down:

Finish with several minutes of easy movement, gradually slowing your pace so your breathing and heart rate can settle. Follow with gentle stretches while your muscles are still warm.
